The older I get, the more I prefer natural decor for holidays. Not a big fan of ‘cutsie’ items to decorate with. Easter is no exception and I took a little time yesterday to dye eggs with foods and spices I had on hand. I’ve wanted to do this for years, but again, never dedicated time to it — which is a shame because it was easy and fun and very much like a science experiment! I’d gladly search for these among blossoming headgerows! From top to bottom here is what I used to dye them: Spinach Turmeric Beets (pink one) Red cabbage (lt. blue) Blueberries (dk. blue) So fun to see how they turned out! I think either the spinach or red cabbage are my favorite. Which color(s) do you like? Or are you more of a Paas color kit person. Remember these? These were my eggs I painted last year, and I can’t wait to show you the ones I’m working on for this year ☺️ . This is a creative tradition I’ve made for myself each Easter, and I’m not mad about it 😆 And now with the social distancing/quarantine, I predict more eggs to be painted than planned! 🙈 . And hey, I finally switched to wooden eggs instead of real ones (thanks to some gentle nudging) so I can keep them around year after year. It was the hardest thing to throw them away each year, and now I don’t have to! 🙌🏻
